The Consumentenbond, established in 1953, is the Dutch consumers' association. The Consumentenbond has about 620,000 members and has financial and political independence. With comparative tests of products and services the Consumentenbond helps its members to make choices. The results of the tests are published in the Consumentengids (Consumer Guide), the ConsumentenGeldgids (Consumer Money Guide), the Reisgids (Travel Guide), the Nieuwsbrief Gezond (Health Newsletter), de Digitale Consument (Digital Consumer) and on the website. The Consumentenbond also steps into the breach for consumers when their interests are at issue. The Consumentenbond has discussions with the government and business community and takes action when necessary.
